Here are some unique lights/luminaries I found while searching about. They are pretty inventive if you ask me...I want one of each!

These are also very cool, but a little...wacky. You'd have to be entertaining a crowd that has a good sense of humor!

Lighting Types

LED Lighting
-normally used for small color lighting
-not cost efficient

Halogen Lighting
-warmer, brighter light

Cold Cathode Lighting
-used mainly for adding color
-creates neons
-cold light

Incandescent Lighting
-widely used in homes and more intimate spaces
-warmer light

Fluorescent lighting
-used for even, controlled light
-widely used in schools and hospitals

HID Exterior Lighting
-used in outside stadiums
-not energy efficient
-lets out bright, voluminous light

Photos taken of fabric samples at 4 different places throughout town that use different kinds of lighting. Photos used to compare color and texture appearance in each lighting scenario.

Lighting: Fluorescent
Reactions: Smooth, uniform lighting throughout the space is
key for retail stores that sell a variety of products.
Recommendations: small, subtle brightness of light
directed toward key products

Lighting: Incandescent, LED, and Natural
Reactions: the mixture of so much light is distracting.
Too much light on one side and not enough on the other
Recommendations: Lower the light fixtures above the tables to
create a more intimate space, control the glare from the
windows while still letting the natural light flow in.

Here are some inspirational images of light. I tend to be drawn by the opposition of light and shadow. I also get a sense of awe when witnessing penetrating light. Both of these ideas will reflect in the images below.
